Blockchain technology application to the food supply chain is becoming more and more popular due to large benefits. The technology is already being used by such big players like Walmart and Carrefour as well as smaller supermarkets and food chains. Walmart in collaboration with IBM’s Hyperledger succeeded to reduce time needed to trace mangoes from 7 days to just 2.2 seconds. Dutch supermarket chain Plus is going to apply blockchain to trace bananas, the world most popular fruits.
